Just another day in Dekai!

I am in the middle of confused and a little bit distress while writing this article. It has been 2 days since I was arrived in Dekai for the purpose of giving HIV and AIDS illumination for government officials. I was incidentally invited by the local AIDS commission of Yahukimo region. Why confused and distress happened to me? It is only because the uncertain condition of my flight back to Wamena. It is 08.55 in the morning now and still no news from Reynold regarding my departure. After all, when there is a chance like this writing is the most common sense to do.

This is my second trip to Dekai the capital of Yahukimo region. My first trip was in 2007 (perhaps?). With a quick glance after my arrival two days ago there has been a lot of changing in this city. Roads are hardened with stone though not yet asphalt. But the concept is really amazing by putting the development of roads first before the building. Some building was built in a scattered location to make sure all areas will be growing at the same time.

Although worry ness might happened about the strength of building foundation, the head of region office already built in two floors! Even in Wamena I hardly found two floored building but here I saw a new building like in the middle of the forest. Then I was confirmed that the house of representative office also already built in two floored.

Some says Dekai is like Wamena in the old days. In the beginning Wamena was built it was look alike what Dekai did today. Land was dominated by government after several agreements with local tribal chiefs (off course with several payments too!). About 64 kilometers squares were paid in several stages for the capital city of Yahukimo. Well, it was worth looking at what happened now. The development city of Dekai is able to run without interruption and instability. It was predicted in next 5 years this city will grown up as one of major city in middle mountain of Papua Island.

Hmm… It is 9.15 now and still no news about my flight. Fonny just texting me about the auction of our old office property that will run today. Oh my God! And my attendance is expected in the meeting of all project staff today. Actually, the meeting already run from yesterday but since some decision has to come out from the mouth of manager my present is very important.

Hhh… no more ideas to write! It is 9.30 now, and still no news. December 4, 2009 today and it is just another day in Dekai!*

*Well guys, I finally departured from Dekai on the same day at 11.00 WIT. Guess what? I took the airplane without ticket! Amazing isn't it?
